HARLEY 1 ~ GOPHER ~0
Earlier in the evening, Rocky and I took Harley for a walk down at the Harbor, half way through the walk Rocky remembered that he had left the hose on down a gopher hole. He turned it off when we got home but did not see the gopher.
As the night progressed Duke, Asta and Harley were barking like crazy as Norma and I were trying to watch a movie.
She finally had to put her boys inside and Harley came in with us.
Then like 5 minutes left of the movie, Harley takes off and we can hear Duke and Asta barking like mad dogs inside Norma's house! They are going crazy!
I asked if she wanted to pause the movie, and she said no, we are so close to the end.
I couldn't stand it any longer, I put my shoes on and as soon as that movie was over I took off. She followed.
There in the darkness, we could see Harley's silhouette throwing something in the air, then it landed and hissed at him with those long yellow knife like teeth. Meanwhile, the Beagles are inside still going crazy! No time to find the shovel, I picked up a brick, Norma let her boys out which caused Harley to become greedy in his delightful quest.
He took off to the darkest corner of the yard, Duke and Asta following. I yelled "leave it" the command for drop that f'ing gopher!! He did and I was about to either drop the brick on a pile of POO or a gopher. It landed square on him. We pronounced him dead and removed the body in a coroner approved grocery plastic doubled bag. He was soaking wet which leads me to believe the incident all started with the hose.
Treats were given all around for the effort to get the attention of two movie watching bad mamas.

The End

Just organizing a few plumeria photos so thought I would post them as well.
The pink Cerise is such a hard color to photograph, you have to see it to believe it!

Here are two of my photos from the 80's. Mark Richards is sporting the 80's black and pink look.

It's been a while since I have added photos to my blog. We had a great opportunity to dive into our past here at the Regal Theater in Oceanside on August 7, 2008. Shaun Thomson was in town to promote his movie, Bustin' Down the Door.... http://www.bustindownthedoor.com/ I highly recommend this to anyone remotely interested in surfing or the history of surfing. I sort of forget that sometimes when we experience life, it becomes not only a piece of our history, but it can be life changing history as well. Check it out.
My little connection happened in 1987 while my friend Leslie and I were visiting Australia. We ended up going to 3 surf contests. My photography skills were on snapshot mode, but still managed to dig out a photo of Shaun and Mark Richards that I took, Shaun signed it for me. He is a very nice man with quite a story to tell.
Our friends are in some of these photos. Norma and Mike with his son Finn, the new generation of surfing. Jane didn't want to be in the photo, she was here for the Twilight trailer but think she managed to enjoy the movie as well.

Happy Birthday Norma!

Harley gets a help up from Duke to get a closer look at his 1 year birthday cake.

Harley is usually good about jumping up and over the Beagels, this time he didn't quite get the air he needed and tripped up Asta.
This looks a bit painful but I assure you, Asta was up and running after Harley within seconds.

Of course the Beagle won the Westminster Dog show this year, first time in 100 years or something insane like that!
All the beagles are coming out of their homes and on to the beaches, ha ha ha. We found a fake Harley and a fake Duke running around Del Mar. Crazy how much this little dog looks like Harley.

Another trip to Del Mar River Mouth early Sunday morning. Many dogs enjoying the crisp cool air.
I was impressed with Harley's manners, he took off to visit with a fellow pup when I called him he actually came running.
This little dog on the beach was hysterical, some of the photos I took look like perhaps a fight broke out, no animals were harmed in the filming of this day. The little dog and Harley played so gentle with each other, the photos just look a bit rough.
